Power of Place: Black Hills Experience

Ages: This camp will be open primarily to middle school or several Virtual High School students from Red Shirt School located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

This camp will be open to middle school students from Red Shirt School located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The camp will last one full day and will be a mobile, on-site learning experience (power of place). Most of the instruction will be done at two sacred Northern Plains sites, Mato Tipila (Bear Lodge/Devils Tower) and Mato Paha/Noahvose (Bear Butte).

*Camps will run if minimum enrollment is met.

8:30 - 9 Meet at the Center for American Indian Studies (Jonas 101 on BHSU campus) and receive presentation
9 - 10 Leave Spearfish for Mato Tipila
10 - 11:30 Park presentation and walking tour
11:30 - 12:30 Return to Spearfish
12:30 - 1:45 Lunch
2 - 2:30 Leave Spearfish for Mato Paha
2:30 - 4:30 Park presentation
4:30 - 5 Return to Spearfish
