BHSU Science Scholars Summer Institute
June 3 - 28, 2013
Ages: High school sophomores and juniors
Registration Deadline: TBD
The Science Scholars Institute provides high school students an opportunity to learn science in the research laboratories of science faculty at BHSU. They will participate in research projects along with undergraduate and graduate students under the mentorship of faculty in an area of their interest. They will learn the underlying rationale for their project, develop cutting-edge scientific techniques on state of the art equipment, and present and discuss their results at weekly seminars. Participants in the Institute will work under the direct guidance of science faculty at BHSU, all of whom hold doctorate degrees in fields in biology, chemistry, geology, or physics.
Applicants will need to submit a letter of interest describing how training in scientific research might fit into their future goals. Also, applicants will need to submit a letter of recommendation from one of their high school science teachers. Both of these letters may be emailed to Dr. Charles Lamb (Charles.Lamb@bhsu.edu).
Needs-based scholarships are available. Contact Hasina Ahmad at 642-6427 for more information.
*Camps will run if minimum enrollment is met.
